چکیده

Formal robustness analysis of aircraft control upset prevention and recovery systems could play an important role in their validation and ultimate certification. Such systems developed for failure detection, identification, and reconfiguration, as well as upset recovery, need to be evaluated over broad regions of the flight envelope or under extreme flight conditions, and should include various sources of uncertainty. To apply formal robustness analysis, formulation of linear fractional transformation (LFT) models of complex parameter-dependent systems is required, which represent system uncertainty due to parameter uncertainty and actuator faults. This paper describes a detailed LFT model formulation procedure from the nonlinear model of a transport aircraft by using a preliminary LFT modeling software tool developed at the NASA Langley Research Center, which utilizes a matrix-based computational approach. The closed-loop system is evaluated over the entire flight envelope based on the generated LFT model which can cover nonlinear dynamics. The robustness analysis results of the closed-loop fault tolerant control system of a transport aircraft are presented. A reliable flight envelope (safe flight regime) is also calculated from the robust performance analysis results, over which the closed-loop system can achieve the desired performance of command tracking and failure detection. ∗Senior Staff Scientist, Robust and Adaptive Control, AIAA Member, email:[email protected]. †Senior Researcher, Dynamic Systems and Control Branch, AIAA Member. ‡Researcher, Dynamic Systems and Control Branch, AIAA Member. 1 https://ntrs.nasa.gov/search.jsp?R=20060046667 2017-12-05T19:40:12+00:00Z

Integral Sliding Mode Fault Tolerant Control Schemes with Control Allocation Mirza Tariq Hamayun The key attribute of a Fault Tolerant Control (FTC) system is to maintain overall system stability and acceptable performance in the face of faults and failures within the system. In this thesis new integral sliding mode (ISM) control allocation schemes for FTC are proposed, which have the potential...

Optimal nonlinear control of flight faults in manned aircrafts in the presence of fault and failure of control actuato

Control actuators' faults are among the major reasons to lose aircraft control while flights. The plane dynamics is severely dependent upon faults and errors in flight control systems and if the reformed control order is not issued by the fault tolerant controller there would be unpleasant outcomes such as inconsistency and the reduction of system performance and some dreadful aerial accide...

A fault tolerant control allocation scheme with output integral sliding modes

In this paper a new fault tolerant control scheme is proposed, where only measured system outputs are assumed to be available. The scheme ensures closed-loop stability throughout the entire closed-loop response of the system even in the presence of certain actuator faults/failures. This is accomplished by incorporating ideas of integral sliding modes, unknown input observers and a fixed control...

Towards a Metric for the Assessment of Safety Critical Control Systems

There is a need for better integration of the fault tolerant and the control designs for safety critical systems such as aircraft. The dependability of current designs is assessed primarily with measures of the interconnection of fault tolerant components: the reliability function and the mean time to failure. These measures do not directly take into account the interaction of the fault toleran...
